Would be the sky the limit? Impressions about Houston

Visit to Apollo aircraft at Space Center.

Last Saturday (07-27-2024), our group went to Houston to visit two places: the Space Center Houston and the Houston Museum of Natural Science. They are amazing!

When we arrived at Space Center, it was raining. But this fact did not decrease our excitement. First, we and some friends took the “train” called Mars and went to the place “Saturn V”, where are some parts of Apollo aircraft. I was too admired, and I thought how a big structure like that could reach the sky. After, we returned to the main building of Space Center and took some pictures of the material exposed there. There were astrounaut’s clothes, scenario in which were presented how is the moon environment. I would like to try the lack of gravity, but I did not see if there was a place for that. I went to the store and something which liked interesting for me: the sandwich that the astrounaut eat when they are in space. I almost bought, however, I solved to buy a t-shirt, a plush alien, a bag and a Endeavour replica. They are not gifts, they are for myself.

In the afternoon, we went to Museum of Natural Science. There are many interesting things there. I could see expositons about Science and Technology, animals (extincted or not) and sea shells. I was delighted with the shells, because they are too beautiful. They had different colors, sizes and shapes. Some of them liked painted by hand, but I knew that were nature masterpieces.

I liked to see the exposition about the Ancient Egypt and Indigenous people of America. I was admired when I saw a real mummy. I like an Indigenous totem. It made remember some facts of my childhood, for example, a notebook that I had in which had a colored totem and other without color. I remembered how happy I was when I painted it. I remembered some cartoons which I watched on TV, when I was a child.

There were many things that I cannot see, because my knee began to pain again. On the other side, the time was over and we had to return to Austin. We were tired, but happy because of the great experience that we lived. I don’t know if the sky is the limit, but the experience has been wonderful.

Thanks University of Texas and all people who had the idea to provide that for us! All these experiences are in my heart! 💓💓🚀

Bevoe Hook' em or Little Ox

The University of Texas at Austin has many identifiers points. The fact of it is the ninth best university of the United States is one of them. However, there is something that catch my attention (and my heart): Bevoe Hook'em. He is not only a visual mark, which are at buses stops, t-shirts and others objects, but he is a specie of strenght and determination symbol for all people who study or work at the University. On the other side, in my point of view, besides of all characteristics that I have cited, he is a welcoming and cute figure, and always will be remembered as a symbol of one of the best experiences of my life. For me, he is a little ox. In Brazil, we use diminutive to refer to someone or something in a lovely way. The Bevoe Hook'em is the Little Ox, and he is in my heart! 💓💓🐂🐂 Hook'em and me Mascots Hook'em and cheerleaders in action.

University of Texas in my heart!

This is thank you message! In 2012, it was the first time that I had listened about PDPI (the program which select us to come to United States for doing this course). Since there, I have observed all the selections, however in all of them there was a requirement which take me out of it. In 2023, there was nothing that prevent me to participate, so I did! On March 15, 2024, the result was published. I have been so happy, because it was a dream which was becoming a reality. For me, any university would be wonderful, but the place where I go was too special: the University of Texas at Austin. Austin was the right place for me: heat, movement, nature, cool people and diversity. I am lucky, because I have had the opportunity to know many places and interesting people. Some of them, I would like to be friend forever. I cannot forget all the people involved in this experience: the coordinator and the ambassors. Two groups I would like to highlight: first, the instructors, and the seco...
